I am a huge CoD fanboy. I have played every CoD from day one, firstly on PC then Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox One X and now Series X. I have loved and hated almost all of the titles in the franchise from the higs of Intervension sniping in MW2, to the lows of rocket boosting, jet packing, wall running nonsense.
I almost exclusively a multiplayer fan and more exclusively a purveyor of the game mode of the Gods, Domination. I have spent more time catching points and lost more lives taking B than I care to remember. I love the gun play, the ability to slow down the pace a little and let the baby Bambiis run around at a million miles an hour just to die tired when I snipe them with a .50cal. I generally love the map design and with Domination you always have a reasonable idea of where the enemy will be coming from, not that all maps are great and some circular maps in WW2 made it very difficult to manage this.
There has undoubtably been a shift towards the "younger" gamer with the changes to gameplay making it incredibly hard to have a playstyle that isn't running everywhere with little encouragement to play as a team tactically like in earlier title or to use classes that reduce this movement like the heavier, slower LMG classes. The addition of Warzone has added a new dimension but I genuinely believe this should have been released as a seperate title, intrucing Fortnite like skins into the main game which I find quite horrible and childish. This cash grab with endless micro transaction and battlepasses has harmed the game. The removal of the original prestige system and moving to this ridiculous 1000 level plus battlepass monstrosity was a massive mistake, as was not resetting weapons on prestige. The removal on Xbox of not having the option to turn off cross play again has harmed the game and lump that in with skill based match making has resulted in lobbies full of cheaters on PC running wallhacks and console users using devices such as Cronus. This without a doubt makes the game incredibly challenging with every match feeling like an MLG tryout.
I miss the depiction of real world weapons and whilst they are lossely based on these the fact that a billion dollar game can't be bothered licensing the rights to modern weapons speaks volumes. The same goes for skins. I would gladly pay for SBS, SAS, GSG9, SEALS etc. skins but it will be a cold day in hell before I buy a Niki Minage or Cat skin.
Anyway that's my random thoughts. What do you think?
