PowerA Lumectra Enhanced Wireless Controller, a KGK Review

The Lumectra Enhanced Wireless Controller is PowerA's latest offering for the Nintendo Switch. It provides full wireless support for the popular Nintendo console, packed with features and technology that set it apart from other third-party controllers. With multi-zone RGB lighting, a rechargeable battery, and full motion control, the Enhanced Wireless aims to be a strong alternative to the standard Nintendo Pro controller.

The design of the Enhanced Wireless is reminiscent of the Xbox Series X/S controller, weighing just 261g—only 13g more than the official Switch Pro controller. It features textured palm grips for a secure hold during gaming, feeling robust and well-made in hand.

The button layout mirrors the Pro controller, but with enhancements like more pronounced rubberized thumb grips and easier-to-find start, select, screenshot, and home buttons. The bumpers and triggers offer tactile feedback similar to the Pro controller.

A unique feature of the Enhanced Wireless is the Advanced Gaming Buttons (AGB) positioned on the palm grips, alongside programmable buttons and LED controls. It boasts 4 lighting zones with 24 colors each and 3 lighting modes (solid, breathing, cycle), all adjustable without additional software.

Setting up RGB effects and AGB functions is straightforward, using intuitive button presses to program each feature. Unlike other controllers, the Lumectra simplifies management without needing extra software.

Connecting the Enhanced Wireless to the Nintendo Switch is seamless, with recognition and setup similar to a Pro controller. In performance, it matches the Pro controller in responsiveness and lacks noticeable latency, offering a satisfying gaming experience with responsive buttons and thumbsticks.

Motion controls, though not a personal preference, performed well on the Enhanced Wireless, making it a viable option for motion-controlled gaming. Battery life is impressive, lasting up to 20 hours on a single charge, slightly reduced with RGB usage.

While lacking HD rumble, IR camera, and Amiibo NFC support, the Enhanced Wireless compensates with its customizable RGB lighting, AGB, and extended battery life. It's a solid, budget-friendly choice for Nintendo Switch gaming, offering ease of use and responsiveness.

Overall this is a very solid alternative to the Pro Controller with the added bonus of some very nifty and customisable lighting effects. Available for an amazing £38 on Amazon at the moment this is a deal too good to miss.
